Installing Olevia Firmware Updates

Installing Olevia Firmware Updates Average ratng: 3,7/5 8862 votes

I have been running my Comcast box into my tvs HDMI output for almost a year now, and it has been working fine. I recently upgraded my 360 to an Arcade to take advantage of the HDMI. When I hooked it up, I get a black screen and an 'Invalid Format' message on my tv. (Olevia 232T) I tried different cables so I know its not the cables.

When looking for issues, I could never find a problem specificaly talking about my exact model. Some people have been having the same issue with the 232V and a firmware update fixed that. My model does not have an available Firmware update.

Jan 01, 2011  My Olevia bricked after a firmware update. Fortunately, the company was still in business at the time and I got it fixed under warranty. Don't update unless you have a serious reason to update. Olevia has some major issues with the f/w updates a few years ago. Olevia TV Code for DTV; If this is your first visit. Back to the dealer. My question is, has anyone else had this or a similar problem? Some said that the Xbox HDMI automatically defaults to 1080P and since my TV doesn't support that it would be the problem, but I've used the other 360 cables to default it to a different resolution using VGA cables and composite, but neither resolved the issue. Is there a fix or am I screwed because I bought a bargain tv? So I called up Olevia support and it sounds like a problem they've received alot and had a couple fixes ready. Set 360 refresh rate to 60mhz? Couldn't find that option, but told them I had to move on to the next: Resetting TV to factory settings.

Nope Resetting 360 to factory settings. Nope Different HDMI cable. Nope Use component cables to set resolution to 720 then try HDMI. (the one I was certain would work because I had read on different TV sites people having problems doing this with their PS3s) Still didn't work. They finally told me to just contact MS and I told them it was obviously an issue with my television.

They put me on hold for about 10 minutes then I sounded like they either hung up on me, a phone died, or there was a problem when trying to transfer me. Either way, I'm pissed because I went through all the time securing a couple extra HDMI cables and a decent switch box all for it not to work because of this fucking brand. If anyone has any other ideas of things to try, I'm open ears. I have my 360 Pro connected to an Olevia 232T via HDMI with no problem.

The latest firmware (updated last month) can be found here: (this is Olevia's server; don't be alarmed by the IP address - I thought it was a bit odd/sketchy at first) Firmware upgrade instructions can be found here: I've done this once or twice so far; it's fairly straightforward, you just need a USB memory card. The serial number on the back of your TV should show whether you have a T-11 or T12 (there's only one firmware for all T-11 units; the T-12s have several different versions of the firmware, depending on some of the TV's components). At best, installing the wrong firmware version will simply fail.

There is a note in the changelog for the T-12 versions that states the following: > 1. XBox 360 Elite compatible problem of supporting the best resolution setting. (my guess is that the reference to the Elite is a holdover predating HDMI rollout across all 360 models) I hope that helps - good luck! Wow, that worked like a charm. I've searched since I got my tv for firmware updates and could never find them on the Olevia site, even the phone guy had no idea. I must have been doing something very wrong I guess. Thanks so much.

I just have one question. Did it effect your cable box (if you have one)? After the update my Comcast DVR box won't work through HDMI, the display keeps flashing DU.something, too fast I can't read it. I'm gonna reset everything to test, but for now, 360 works super duper on HDMI and it seems my cable box has been bricked. Wow, that worked like a charm.
