Just thought I'd put this up in case anyone else comes up against this. Had my airbag warning light pop up during the week, rather predictably less than two weeks before the MOT is due! VCDS scan gave - The RossTech wiki suggests either wiring or igniter itself being at fault.

When there is one or two passengers in the front - airbag light is off Driver and passenger side rear seat belt is buckled AUDI A4 B6 airbag fault Hi Im new to this forum and just wondered if anyone is knowledgeable about airbag fault on A4 b6. Airbag lamp is on. 00589 - Airbag Igniter 1: Passenger Side (N131) 32-00 - Resistance too High S4 1999 yellow avant, eiback pro kit, RS4 wheels powder coated black, snub mount, rear diff polly bush, rear diff Carrierr, 034 arm kit, RS4 grill and bumper mesh, forge DV x 2, SS cat back, silicone hose set.

Searching online only raised one similar issue that the owner resolved by replacing the airbag completely, I thought I would do some investigation before straight replacement. The wiring for the driver side airbag starts at a yellow plug on the floor under the seat then runs to the back of the seat and up to the airbag. Unplugging the yellow connector at the floor and re-scanning confirmed the issue was with the seat loom as the DTC changed to upper limit exceeded - because I had unplugged the seat airbag. Started by taking the seat back off, three push clips at the top of the plastic section which then lifts out and revealed this. The item on my left index finger is one of the springs for the lumbar support adjuster, which has broken. Looks like the mechanism has managed to trap the wiring for the airbag and kink it.

Doesn't look like the sheathing has been compromised but I've taped them all up and cable tied it as far out of the way as possible. Result - the airbag fault has cleared and the lamp out, for now!

Only time will tell, as long as it stays out till after the MOT! Airbags are explosives - ALWAYS disconnect the battery before working on them or their wiring. And once you've finished then turn the ignition on before re-connecting the battery - if they bang its best being as far away as possible!

PyDev now requires java 7 in order to run. Soln: • Use JDK 1.7: (in eclipse install-root folder) to specify path to java executable inside JDK 1.7. • PyDev 3.3.3 needs java 1.7. If you don't have java 7, the update process may appear to succeed, but PyDev will simply not show in the target installation. Problems were: • My eclipse folder was in /opt and owned by root. Add pydev to eclipse.

My airbag light has come on 9n tdi, pluged vag com in and used vcds to get the fault Side Airbag Igniter; Front Driver Side (N199): Resistance too High As me and a friend understood probs a loose / split wire or connection Where do i start to even check the wiring? I have no cluse where this is. My understanding is to whack off the battery terminal and leave to loose all power Then check the wiring but does anyone have an idea where the wiring is to check? Thanks, Mart. Edited 21 August, 2012 by mpsheen. It's worth checking the battery connections, ie the firmest and where the wire attach to the connectors and also the battery voltage, if it's low it will do wired things like this. - also have you clean the codes with VAGCOM?

Has the light come back on with the same error? I remember mine came on when I went over a pot hole and had a similar code. HTH Yeah i cleared the codes with vcds, light went off. I moved my seat and it came back on so my gut feeling it is a loose connection within my seat or underneath? Just unsure where to check for the loose connection.

I have a little one (after re-reading this i mean a little girl), being a 3 door were always using my drivers seat to get her in the back as my passenger one's folding cable has stretched / come out of place in the seat. Not going too well. Edited 21 August, 2012 by mpsheen.
